Liverpool Twestival 2010, 25 March

The Twestival to end all Twestivals' is taking place at Mood, Fleet Street Liverpool on 25th March.

There will be food, drink, music and more at this Tweet Up with all the proceeds from ticket sales going to charity.

It's still early days in the organising but already they have over a dozen people booked, a buffet laid on for free courtesy of Cromwells, and the music by Liverpool based band Man Get Out.

A range of Donors are giving up time or resources to ensure this is the best Liverpool Twestival yet. Some have even stretched to giving prizes for the all important raffle most notably the Everyman Theatre have promised two tickets to a show, other prizes include photo's and professional services.

Tickets are £5 each and all proceeds got to Concern Worldwide.

I am getting into the habit - good or bad of posting the Art in Liverpool podcast to posterous just to spread the word so to speak. It then sends it on to my blogger site which is sorely neglected for content these days. I seem to have fallen right out of the habit of posting to it. But there again do expect to have a great deal of time in the future where i will be able to post to it once more - although trying to distinguish between what content i should post where is getting harder and harder. So maybe i should just post and be damned.

How? Why? DIY! seminar Plus a two hour seminar to round off the day, focussing on open source, open access, and social media

As part of Global Ignite week we are looking for proposals for presentations for Liverpool's Ignite event on the 4th March.

Presentations can be on the areas of Social, Technological or Political

Each presentation should take no more than 5 minutes and will use the Ignite Template which we will supply to you if successful in being chosen to present.

Ignite presenters share their personal and professional passions, using 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds."

"Ignite captures the best of geek culture in a series of five-minute speed presentations on topics ranging from The Best Way to Buy a Car to Hacking Chocolate. Imagine that you're on stage in front of an audience of hundreds of people, doing a five-minute presentation using a slide deck that auto-forwards every 15 seconds, whether you're ready or not."

A long long time ago in a land far far away...

In the land of Munchies, chomps(ki) and hangovers a group of miscreants gathered after what was normal regular party if you lived off Catherine Street, Liverpool in the 1990's. This play - Tales from the Settee - was based on real life - just not my own or anybodys that i knew - I think it was the friend of a friend of someone that the writer met in the pub once.

I performed (If you can call it that) - I thereby sat on the Unity Theatre's stage in a dressing gown, as I played Neville(guess) a cocky student middle class type who had been lucky with the girl in the black dress - Over all there were about 20 of us in it which made it lots of fun to rehearse.

This was the second time that the play had been performed, the first time was at the Workhaus Gallery space, which was such a radical place the council put a hole through it - it was where the passageway exists between Wolstenholme Sq and Duke Street.
Anyway I digress -So the slide show below is from the second time it was performed but the first time I was in it. (does that make sense) A rescripted version was performed later the same year again at the Unity Theatre with a different cast - I played a different character- this time he didn't have to get naked but his shirt was very tight and he was funnier- so i am told.

I love it when my professional life interfers with my personal life and this is an example - Arts organisations who advertise in places that i visit. It used to be only Theatre organisations but these days everyone is at it and more power to them.

Although this is not a new idea, it is a good one and well worth a visit.

I think it was in Amelie, the famous french film where the female lead discovers an old photo under the photo booth and so she begins a intriguing search that eventually brings her love in the form of the man who has been collecting discarded photo booth images from across Paris. What is it that makes us so fascinated by discarded images, we look at them with wonderment of others lives, but there is still that detachment from reality, the images have that soul stealing quality. They are the past, we look on and question them for answers to life's imponderables.

Talking about a revolution

I'd put this off for ages but when Alan Dunn contacted me to ask if I had received his Revolution CD catholic guilt surronded me and I said yes but i hadn't listened to any of it.

My guilt is now dissolved as i have listened to at least one cd and there are some great tracks gathered from around the globe. I had to withhold my laughter at some which always looks as if you are having a fit when in a crowded public place - absolute class it is.

Amongst the serious talk of revolution from political figures across the years is a track from - Sisters Of Revolution excerpts from 9th Floor Radio Show courtesy of Sisters Of Revolution and 9th Floor Radio, an Internet radio station broadcasting from Laney College in Oakland, California, USA- which i just loved.
